Chief Accountant

Role Purpose

The Finance Section Head will oversee the financial management, accounting, and compliance of the Independent Power Producer (IPP) entities in Greece. The role will ensure full alignment between the local Greek companies and the holding companies in Cyprus, covering statutory compliance, group reporting, treasury management, and project finance.

This position acts as the key financial link between the Greek operations and the group headquarters, ensuring transparency, control, and accurate reporting across all entities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Financial Management & Reporting
• Lead the finance and accounting function for Greek SPVs within the IPP sector.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements in compliance with Greek GAAP, while ensuring group reporting under IFRS for consolidation at the holding company in HQ.
• Coordinate with the finance team in HQ to ensure timely reporting, reconciliations, and alignment of group standards.
• Oversee external and internal audits for Greek companies.
• Treasury & Project Finance
• Manage banking relationships in Greece, including loan facilities, debt servicing, and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with project finance agreements and lender covenants.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and funding requests for HQ approval.
• Liaise with group treasury in HQ to optimize intercompany funding and liquidity management.
• Tax & Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with Greek tax regulations (corporate, VAT, payroll, etc.).
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and local authorities.
• Monitor subsidies, grants, and incentives available in the Greek renewable energy sector.
• Ensure group policies from HQ are properly implemented in Greece.
• Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Lead annual budgets and rolling forecasts for all Greek SPVs.
• Analyze actual performance vs. budget, preparing variance analysis and recommendations.
• Provide financial insights to local management and group HQ for strategic decision-making.
• Leadership & Team Development
• Supervise and mentor a small local finance team in Greece.
• Ensure smooth coordination between the Greek team and the finance team in HQ.
• Promote best practices, efficiency, and compliance across all processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
• Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, or Greek equivalent) is an advantage.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, including 3+ years in leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP, tax regulations, and IFRS.
• Experience in renewable energy, IPP, or project-financed sectors is highly desirable.
• Strong financial modeling and project finance knowledge.
• Excellent command of Greek and English (Arabic is a plus).
• Strong communication and coordination skills to manage cross-border reporting with HQ.
